We have established a solid and long-term research foundation in smart composite structures and their aerospace applications. Focusing on critical demands in areas such as space deployable structures, adaptive mechanisms, and lightweight functional integration, we conduct in-depth and systematic research on smart composite structures. Through continuous innovation, we have achieved comprehensive breakthroughs in smart polymers, actively deformable structural design, and their engineering applications, forming a complete technology chain from materials to structures and system-level solutions. These achievements place us at an internationally leading level with strong global competitiveness. We have accomplished multiple “world-first” innovations, established significant technical barriers for aerospace applications, and secured complete independent intellectual property rights covering a range of aerospace-grade smart polymers and space deployable structures. Notably, the smart deformable composite deployable structures and locking and release mechanisms developed by our team have been successfully demonstrated and deployed in orbit on the Shijian satellite series and applied in China’s Mars exploration missions, fully validating their reliability and engineering maturity.
